Editing & Proofreading

With years of education, experience in the book community, and her own publishing career, Cait offers various levels of editing and proofreading for multiple genres!

Editing

$65/10,000 words

This level consists of line edits and very light developmental editing. Track changes is used to fix typos, adjust passive writing, point out repetition and inconsistencies, and make sentence suggestions to better the overall flow of the writing. Comments are also used throughout with feedback on the plot, characters, etc.

Proofreading

$30/10,000

This level should take place after all editing is complete, whether that’s done by Cait or someone else. This is the last check for small things that might have been missed, such as typos, punctuation errors, etc. While proofreading, Cait does not leave feedback throughout the story, nor does she adjust passive writing or sentence structure (unless it’s a minor fix and not a frequent occurrence).

Genres, Turnaround Time, & Payment

Cait enjoys a variety of genres within the upper young adult, new adult, and adult range, including romance, fantasy, dystopian, and some sci-fi, historical, and mystery thriller. She prefers books that have at least some sort of romance subplot, but anything from clean to super spicy is welcome.

New clients are asked to send the first chapter to sample edit. This ensures everyone is compatible and that you are getting the proper level of work needed for your book.

If a proofread is requested but it appears to need more of an edit, Cait will finish the sample chapter and then discuss how to proceed.

Spots are first come, first serve. Cait asks that you book a few months in advance or more. Even if you don’t know specific dates, an estimate time or month is enough. She has limited availability and cannot always drop everything to start editing immediately.

Turnaround times depend on the genre and length of the book, but she typically ask for 2-3 weeks for proofreading and 3-4 weeks for editing minimum.

PLEASE NOTE: Make sure to add in time between the deadline and release when booking. Cait will no longer accept jobs where the author sends the book a few weeks before the release. If the book is going to take 3-4 weeks, Cait needs to have the book at least 5-6 weeks before your uploading deadline, for example.

Invoices are sent through PayPal. For most jobs, she ask for half upfront, and then the rest may be paid once finished.

Book Now

Booking ahead is recommended, even if you don’t know exact dates.

*Filling out this form does not guarantee availability. Cait will contact you for more information and to request a sample if you are a new client.
